Nature Conservation Egypt (NCE) participated in an ecotourism workshop in Senegal.
In a step towards strengthening regional cooperation in the field of environmental protection and sustainable tourism development, NCE is currently participating in a regional workshop in Senegal, during the Council for the Africa Partnership (CAP) meetings with BirdLife International.
The workshop witnessed broad participation from representatives of more than 30 African countries, representing birdlife partners and national focal points. During the workshop, expertise and experiences in the field of developing ecotourism were exchanged.
In his intervention, Dr. Khaled Elnoby, Executive Director of the NCE, spoke about the experience of Galala Bird Observatory as a successful model of sustainable eco-tourism site, noting that this pioneering project has achieved great success in achieving a balance between preserving the environment and developing local communities.
Elnoby stressed the importance of partnerships between the government sector, especially the Ministry of Environment, while thanking the Minister of Environment for her great support for the association’s role, also reviewing the great support provided by the private sector.
At the conclusion of his speech, Dr. Elnoby called for intensifying regional efforts to develop ecotourism, stressing the importance of investing in tourism infrastructure, training human resources, and marketing ecotourism destinations at the international level.

Additionally, we discussing migratory bird conservation strategies, implementing key biodiversity initiatives, and enhancing partnerships to ensure the future of our precious landscapes. Also, conversations about Important Bird Areas (IBAs) and Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) have been highlighted. These sites are globally significant for biodiversity, and we’re addressing the challenges of keeping them properly conserved.

Last but not least, to end this council meeting on a high note, El Noby was appointed the Chair of Africa Regional Committee (ARC).
