Discovered birdwatching independently in Egypt in 1977 and pursued it obsessively for years, relying on Arabic texts, museum specimens, and personal field observations. Ornithology became a lifelong focus, leading to coauthoring and illustrating key works including The Common Birds of Egypt (1982) and The Birds of Egypt (1989). Contributed to major conservation initiatives, including Egypt’s Important Bird Areas and the establishment of several protected areas, with broader interests spanning desert ecology, reptiles, plants, and marine life.

Ahmed Waheed is an Egyptian ornithologist with 16+ years of experience in migratory and resident bird monitoring in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. He contributes to national surveys, training, and documentation, and currently serves as Secretary of the Egypt Ornithological Rarities Committee.

Ornithologist and wildlife enthusiast since 1985. Co -founder and active member of Nature Conservation Egypt ( NCE) Consultant , lecturer and trainer for many projects including Soaring Birds Project regarding Windfarms, training rangers at Ras Muhammad Protectorate Zaranik Protectorate bird surveys, bird catching in the north coast, surveys on shorebirds and many more. Wrote and co wrote several publications. Currently In the final stage of completing the first comprehensive book on birds of Egypt in Arabic for the first time.

Mohamed Habib is an Egyptian biodiversity consultant with 25+ years' experience. An approved Ministry expert, he holds a Master's degree and Cornell certificate. He leads Red Sea bird projects, serves on IUCN specialist groups, and has published extensively on regional avifauna.

Frédéric is a professor in conservation biology at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris, France. He is birdwatching since his early years, has been the chairman of the French Rarities Committee, and contributed to the creation of EORC.

Pierre-André Crochet (PAC) is an evolutionary biologist at CNRS in Montpellier. He studies biogeography, speciation genomics, and the systematics of Western Palearctic birds, amphibians, and reptiles. A passionate birder, he serves on several taxonomic and rarities committees.

Basem Rabia is an ecologist (10+ yrs) in biodiversity conservation across Egypt, the US, and Saudi Arabia. M.Sc. Ecology, Missouri State Univ. (2024). Studies birds, tortoises/turtles, and ungulates using GIS/remote sensing and R modeling (JAGS/NIMBLE).

Amr Hady is a Biodiversity Specialist with experience in wildlife surveys and ecological assessment, focusing on bird and reptile conservation. He delivers bird identification training and leads children awareness activities promoting biodiversity and environmental responsibility.
